The Shiny Shop is a drop-in community crafting hub intended to engage community members and educate on micromobility safety of all kinds . Envisioned by Boston artist and icon Clara Wainwright to improve visibility and safety of cyclists, The Shiny Shop is brought to you by the team at Alex Makes Art as a Harvard placemaking initiative.

Our first iteration popped up this spring in collaboration with Harvard Urban Planning and Development. With all our lessons and new friends, The Shiny Shop concept is ready to adapt and transform for new spaces, communities, cities, and configurations.

In Fall 2026, The Shiny Shop is popping up again in Cambridge, Massachusetts! From the second week of September to mid-October, expect cozy drop-in crafts and a mission to make micro-mobility vehicles of all kinds seen, safe, and shiny. More details soon.
